"True love is no tall tale in this delightfully overblown story of a plucky widow, a herd of greedy cowboys and a Texas summer so hot the chickens lay hard-boiled eggs."
Booklist
Isaacs’ tall-tale plotting and over-the-top language are matched by Hawkes’ bright, comic paintings, brimming with spirit and detail.
School Library Journal (Starred Review)
Isaacs excels at writing tall tales, and readers will not be disappointed by her newest yarn.
The Horn Book
"Texas boasts as many tall tales as there are fleas on a hound dog, but listeners will have to venture far afield to find one more engaging. . ."
Publisher's Weekly (starred review)
"Texas humdinger. . .Isaacs’s ability to spin a hyperbolic yarn is as sharp as ever."
New Site, New Book, New Honors
I'm pleased to announce the new design for AnneIsaacs.com - it's been completely redone using the latest web technology. It's now "mobile friendly" and includes a new visual design.
The new site is going live just in time to announce Anne's latest book: Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch. It will be released next year from Random House.
In addition, the new book has already received its first honor: it has been selected for a 5 year run by the Junior Library Guild book club.
